Why We Rise: The Story Behind Rise 4 Health

Updated: 3 days ago

Welcome to the Rise 4 Health blog. This is my first post, so I want to share the heart of my mission and the simple beginnings that inspired me to create this platform.

Health Equity Matters

Health isn’t just about hospitals or medicine. It’s about the basics, like having access to education, housing, healthy food, and clean water. However, not everybody has the same access, leading to disparities in health outcomes. The COVID-19 pandemic made that painfully clear. Many families lost access to care and supplies, and communities already struggling felt the impact even more. At the same time, conversations about fairness and justice have shown that health is deeply connected to social issues. I believe everyone deserves a fair shot at good health, free from the weight of discrimination and poverty.

Our Start: Small Kits, Big Meaning

Rise 4 Health began with a simple idea. After volunteering at a local clinic and having a conversation with one of the staff members, I noticed that many people didn’t have toothbrushes or toothpaste. It was a small thing, but it stuck with me. What if I could help by handing out dental kits? I started accumulating supplies and giving them out to those in need. The response was immediate. People were grateful, and we realized these kits did more than keep teeth clean. They helped fill a need and showed that someone cared.

That was a source of inspiration for Rise 4 Health. My goal is to partner with community free clinics to offer more patients more than just medicine. I focus on everyday items: first aid kits, dental supplies, pill boxes, skin care products, toiletries, etc. These aren’t grand gestures, but they matter.

Addressing the Roots

There’s plenty of research, and honestly, common sense, that says when we address the root causes, like housing, food, and basic supplies, people’s health improves. I want to help build a world where your future isn’t dictated by circumstances you never chose.
